Grey Squirrel Control
A squirrel in your loft is more than a nuisance. They gnaw constantly to keep their teeth sharp, through electrical cables, roof joists, water pipes, and insulation. Left unchecked, the damage can be expensive and dangerous. We remove them and seal the entry points so they can't return.
What's Involved
Loft Inspection
We inspect the loft space to confirm squirrel activity, identify how many may be present, locate dreys (nests), and pinpoint the entry and exit points they're using.
Control
We set cage traps baited with nuts or corn in the loft and around the property perimeter. Traps are checked regularly and humanely dispatched in line with legal requirements.
Proofing
Once the squirrels have been removed we seal all entry points using heavy-gauge wire mesh and other materials that squirrels cannot gnaw through. We also advise on nearby trees that give access to the roof.
Signs You Have a Problem
- Loud scratching or rolling sounds in the loft, particularly in the morning and late afternoon when squirrels are most active
- Chewed insulation, gnawed timber beams, or damaged cables discovered during a loft inspection
- Daylight visible through the eaves or fascia boards where squirrels have forced entry
- Squirrels seen regularly running along the roofline or disappearing under the eaves
- A strong smell of urine in the loft space, or signs of nesting material (shredded insulation, leaves, bark)
